Unfortunate News

Dear all,

I hate to inform you of this, but unfortunately, the department just realized that  the university did not grant me a full graduate faculty status.  Therefore, I was technically not authorized to teach a PhD seminar.  This means that you will not be able to count this class as satisfying your requirements and you will need to retake it again next Spring with a different instructor.

I understand that for some of you, this jeopardizes your chances of graduation and I am very sorry about that.  I hope that you still enjoyed your experience and we can discuss your options further on Monday.

Marina Levina

P.S.  To cheer you up, please look at this new offering from Google called Gmail Motion Beta

  1. Is this an april fools joke? I was not on campus today or at the brownbag to verify if this is a prank or not but I sure hope it is.

  3. Okay, gmail motion is kind of cool (I’m trying it right now with a Firefox plugin for blogspot), but how is that any consolation for this devastating announcement?

Moreover, as I’m experimenting with the motion technology right now, the camera doesn’t seem to be reading my “WTF” and related motions, which in turn is preventing me from expressing my condolences and frustrations about this unfortunate news.

  4. Mark--I was also having trouble getting the "WTF"and related motions to work. For some reason, it only recognizes the motion for "What the Hell," but you'll have to make sure to your "devil horns" aren't confused for "bull horns" otherwise you'll activate the B.S. motion.
